Business Outsourcing

Outsourcing, according to wikipedia:

Outsourcing entered the business lexicon in the 1980s and often refers to the delegation of non-core operations from internal production to an external entity specialising in the management of that operation.

Most of the outsourcing industry involves organizations moving back-office, customer service, and helpdesk functions to a skilled, offshore, low-cost provider.

Bay Area warms up to global commerce

According to Topix.net the Bay Area is warming up to Global commerce. 600 Bay Area residents took the survey,
72 percent of Alameda County residents and 71 percent of Contra Costa County inhabitants said they believe growing trade and business ties between the Bay Area and other countries are a good thing. The poll found that 74 percent of Bay Area residents said they believe those trends are a good thing.

In the past, many Bay Area residents expressed hostility and fear toward growing outsourcing trends. Most residents felt Silicon Valley technology jobs would move offshore due to the outsourcing boom. Suprisingly, some residents taking the recent poll expressed the opposite opinion:
Globalization could increase jobs and opportunities for the Bay Area,' said Linda Reiner, an Antioch resident who responded to the poll, which was conducted in February. 'It could help the high-tech industry.'
